Kerala Tours

Articulately sold by the state tourism department as God’s Own Country, Kerala has become a must-do destination for most tourists. As heady as Goa but minus much of the hedonism, Kerala beckons with her sun and sand, blue backwater lagoons, Syrian Christian churches, tea and coffee gardens, spice plantations and lush forests. The Communist Government faithfully goes to the people for their mandate every 5 years. And they’ve almost always responded favourably.

Quite happily for everyone involved the result has been a unique 98% literacy level, equal rights for women, a successful land re-distribution drive and blunting of any sharp caste differences. This small Indian state lies along the western coast in the southernmost part of the peninsula, wedged in between the sea and the rocky Western Ghats and boasts of a culturally alive society.

New Agers are promised a great time in Kerala. There is no end to the number of massage houses that employ herbal/ayurvedic oils to drain away the stress and strain of your desk job, urban life or hectic travel itinerary. They promise to release you refreshed, rejuvenated and raring to go! So venture forth to the "God's own Country' - Kerala.

Tourism in Kerala is a big thing, so come to Kerala and get totally charmed by the sights, sounds and thousand shades of green!

Sightseeing in Kerala

Brilliant green is the colour of Kerala. As you trundle down its roads, sail through its lagoons, trek in tea country and hit the trail of the langoors, it’s that colour that’ll be with you. The places to see in Kerala are many and a sightseeing tour will bring a whole lot of gratification.

The capital city, Thiruvananthapuram, is a good communication hub. Many travellers catch a flight or train to the city, which is in the very south, and make their way through the state, past the beaches and fun of Kovalam and Varkala, cruising through the lush backwaters from Alappuzha to Kollam, spending a few days at the exceedingly pleasant city of Kochi and then on to Kumarakom and the backwaters at Alleppey and so on.

The wilds of Periyar, where lumbering elephants roam the jungles, back-to-basics Wynaad and the tiny Parambikulam Sanctuary are great places to visit for nature enthusiasts. Munnar is tea and spice country; slopes awash in a tremendously refreshing green are as much of a pull as the atmospheric town itself.

The Lakshadweep Islands in the Arabian Sea are easily reached from Cochin (Kochi). The delicious cocktail of silver sand, shimmering blue waters, snorkelling and diving that it is demands a good long glug!
